Donna will discuss the importance of all adults achieving and maintaining practical physical balancing skills. Gaining a better balance is a critical ingredient in effective fall prevention. Helpful balancing exercises will be practiced. Please wear comfortable clothing, as some balancing practice will occur. Q+A to follow.

Karen will be revisiting her popular evening of teaching and discussion about heart health in women. Last February, her talk packed our meeting room and created a buzz of excitement and honest enquiry about this topic. You asked us if Karen would do it again and we’ve listened. DEALING WITH NUTRITIONAL TRAPS – SALT, FAT, SUGAR AND BOOZE

Our daily nutritional choices often contain unhealthy quantities of salt, sugar, fat and alcohol. Tiffany will review the known health risks for each of these ingredients. Strategies to reduce or eliminate these harmful elements from our diet will be discussed. The current trend of plant-based meat alternatives will be commented upon. Q+A to follow.

Before we end our program cycle and pause for the summer, we are checking out the takeaway learning from our program events so far. The discussion will help inform topic choices for our next program cycle beginning in September. It’s also the ideal opportunity to get feedback on how our program events and resource people have met some of your essential needs to maintain a heart-healthy lifestyle.
